Okay, we have done chili before…many times. It really is a favorite and easy go to meal. Why not try it “green” style? This version is lighter compared to using the traditional red meat – ground beef, by implementing ground turkey instead. Add in some chopped cilantro for extra something-something.
Leave the red salsa behind and opt to open a jar of green salsa instead. Mixing it up and keeping it fresh!
Green Turkey Chili
Ingredients
- 2 lb organic ground turkey
- 1 small can of green chilis
- 1 jar of green salsa
- 1/2 cup mirepoix frozen veggies diced celery, bell pepper and onions
- 1/2 cup fresh cilantro chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- 1 can white northern beans
Instructions
- Brown the ground turkey in skillet on stovetop. Season with salt, pepper and cumin.
- Add mirepeix mixture and sautee until softened.
- Once cooked, lower the heat and add all ingredients, except cilantro.
- Cook for 5 10- minutes until heated through. Add chopped cilantro.
- Serving suggestions – put dollop of sour cream on top, or white Mexican cheese.
